  • What is the purpose of the Strength in Weakness Ministries?
Provide support to Christians who live with unwanted same-sex attractions and who desire to live according to the Biblical sexual ethic. Provide support to Christian families who have a family member who is gay or same-sex attracted. Educate Christians on how to share the gospel with their ga friends and neighbors in a manner that is loving and compassionate and at the same time lifts up Biblical truth.
  • Is the Strength in Weakness Ministries a typical Bible-Thumping, Gay-Hating, Condemnation group?"
Absolutely not! The Strength in Weakness Ministries serves those that wish to uphold the Biblical sexual ethic. We recognize that there are many that are same-sex attracted and celebrate that lifestyle and do not wish to uphold the Biblical sexual ethic - we love and respect them too! Just as God gives everyone freewill to choose how to live their lives, Strength in Weakness Ministries also recognizes everyones freewill and choice to live their lives however they choose. We do not hold the power or right to condemn or judge anyone.
  • Are all of the staff members of the Strength in Weakness Ministries same-sex attracted?
All of our staff members are either same-sex attracted or are affected by same-sex attraction in some way, through a loved one. Click here to learn more about our staff members.
  • Does the Strength in Weakness Ministries practice conversion therapy?
No, the Strength in Weakness Ministries does not practice or condone conversion therapy. Our goal is not to become, or help anyone else become, heterosexual. Our goal is to provide support and connection to those that live with unwanted same-sex attractions and wish to live their lives for God.
  • Where does the name 'Strength in Weakness' Name Come From?
The name for this ministry was inspired by 2 Corinthians 12:8, "Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
  • What services do the Strength in Weakness Ministries provide?
We provide support, education, advice, and encouragement to anyone affected by same-sex attraction or transgender issues in any way. This includes several pieces of written, audio, and video content on our website for our members (LINK) We offer support groups to those that deal with unwanted same-sex attraction AND to parents of members of the LGBTQ community. (LINK) We offer seminars/workshops on a number of different topics relating to same-sex attraction and/or transgender issues for churches, church leaders, academic institutions, etc. (LINK) We offer several books and resources for sale!
  • What are the support groups like?
Our support groups are a sacred and safe space for individuals who deal with same-sex attraction OR for parents of individuals who deal with same-sex attraction or transgender issues. These regular meetings value privacy and serve to offer support, encouragement, and connection. To sign up for a support group, become a member of SIW by clicking here.
  • Why does it cost money to become a member?
This ministry survives off of donations. There is not any one church that financially supports this organization. Rather, our funding comes from the kindness of those who wish to partner with us in this unique ministry, and from membership fees. To donate to Strength in Weakness Ministries, please click here. • Which scriptures say that God does not desire homosexuality for His people?
We have found only 5 scriptures that directly speak of homosexuality in the Bible: Leviticus 18:22 Leviticus 20:13 Romans 1:26-27 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 1 Timothy 1:9-10
  • What caused me/someone I know to become same-sex attracted?
Unfortunately there has been no scientific explanation for this yet. Though this is a common question and curiousity among members of this ministry, we have found that it is not imperative to have it answered in order to lead a holy life for God.
  • If God is love, how can He not be pleased if I love someone, even if they are of the same sex? "
Unfortunately, God does not give us a lot of explanation as to why He does not wish for us to indulge our same-sex attractions, He simply tells us it is not part of His plan for His people. Strength in Weakness Ministries humbly submits to the sentiment in Isaiah 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." And we rejoice in the fact that we are not meant to understand everything, we are simply meant to obey out of our love for God (John 14:15).
